UpRide (upride.cc) is a digital, video-based incident register and community platform designed to improve cycling safety by documenting close calls and accidents. Supported by Cycliq, it allows cyclists to upload dashcam footage to map dangerous spots, raise awareness, and provide evidence for prosecuting drivers.

We can’t have progress without some pain…
The videos posted play an extremely important part in creating awareness among the wider community and specifically motorists. It is very difficult to widen this awareness without communicating publicly.
Note that whenever a video is uploaded publicly, it is always followed by many comments by cyclist ‘haters’. Very sadly, this is reflective of not only the cyclist vs motorist culture in Australia, but also of a general social media culture.
It is very important to understand that for every ‘hater’ that makes a cyclist-negative comment, there are many others who see the videos, along with the positive commentary provided by UpRide. In this way, we can all make a difference, a video at a time, in spite of those in our community that wish otherwise.
